Quote: Oscar Romero
No one can celebrate a genuine Christmas without being truly poor. The self-sufficient, the proud, those who, because they have everything, look down on others, those who have no need even of God – for them there will be no Christmas. Only the poor, the hungry, those who need someone to come on their behalf, will have that someone. That someone is God, Emmanuel, God-with-us. Without poverty of spirit there can be no abundance of God.

What a beautiful thought, it really rang true with me. Fr. Groeschel always said "if you want a beautiful Christmas, come to my place, and we'll give food baskets and toys to the poor. You'll be exhausted, but very happy."
I have worked with the poor for most of my life, as a social worker, and English as a Second Language teacher (many of my students are Salvadorean) so I share the simple joy they have many times.
I teach a bilingual First Holy Communion Class, come to my blog and see how we celebrated Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Los Tres Reyes (Epiphsny).
